Belmar council adopts updated construction permit fees (Ordinance 2026‑1)

Belmar — The borough council adopted Ordinance 2026‑1, which amends Chapter 25 of the borough code to set revised construction permit fees.

The council opened a public hearing on the fee changes and, with no public comments, moved to adopt the ordinance. Council members recorded affirmative roll‑call votes following the motion. The clerk noted a conflict for one member (Kelsey Catablaasio), and the chair handled the conflict by not calling that member's name during the roll call.

The adoption was recorded during the regular session following the workshop. Council also introduced three additional ordinances for first reading — Ordinance 2026‑2 (affordable housing/Chapter 39) and Ordinances 2026‑3 and 2026‑4 (both amending Chapter 40 zoning districts) — which will be scheduled for future hearings and planning board review.

The council will return to the ordinances for final action after required planning board consistency review and any public hearings.
