The Student Advisory Committee confirmed that elections for 2026–27 SAC officers will take place at its April meeting. Chair Lawson outlined eligibility rules: the chair must come from one of the four Connecticut State Universities or Charter Oak, the vice chair must be a CT State student, and the secretary may be from either category. New officers would take office August 1 and serve through July 31.
Tim, an advisor, described the workload for officers: "It's approximately 10 to 12 hours a week of a commitment," including monthly Board of Regents meetings that can run two to four hours and may require travel or virtual attendance. Members must maintain a minimum 2.6 GPA to serve.
The candidacy process requires interested students to submit a short bio and headshot to the SAC, prepare a brief speech for the April meeting and present to the committee; uncontested positions still require the speech. Elections for chair and vice chair will be reported to the Board of Regents as official selections.
Separately, the Student Connections subcommittee reported progress on outreach: a SAC email account and an Instagram page are being created (Sam Norton offered to set up the Instagram) to increase visibility of SAC work and to promote mental-health resources and other campus services. The committee clarified the email will be used for incoming student questions and SAC communications, not mass mailings to entire campuses. Funding for events or outreach is not currently available to SAC; Tim said any funding requests must be made to the Board of Regents.
