Orange County VAB accepts final report, authorizes certification and apportionment of expenses

The Orange County Value Adjustment Board voted April 13 to accept its final meeting report for the 2025 cycle and to take several administrative steps needed to close the year.

Mr. Sekiro, the VAB clerk, reported an April 10 petition filing that increased the total petitions for the year to 3,416 and updated filing fees collected to $51,060.60; staff described addenda in the packet that reflect four withdrawn petitions and corresponding changes to counts of hearings and denied petitions.

Following that update, the board voted to accept counsel's recommendations for the balance of reconsideration requests (denying most and making a limited correction to one recommendation) and then approved the final meeting report as revised. The board also moved to authorize the VAB chair to certify the tax roll and voted to authorize payment of VAB expenses apportioned two-fifths to the Orange County School Board and three-fifths to the Board of County Commissioners.

A motion was approved authorizing the VAB clerk to finalize administrative duties for the year, including preparing the packet and documenting the board's actions for the record. The clerk noted the packet contains detailed breakdowns of petitions, withdrawals, fees and expenses and that those documents should be consulted for specific numbers.

With those items concluded, Chair Marisha offered closing remarks and adjourned the board's final meeting for the 2025 cycle.
