The Claiborne County Board approved a contract on March 16 to stripe roughly 6.5 miles of Grand Gulf Road, opting for a paint-with-beads option recommended as the low bid.
Road manager reported two thermoplastic quotes around $113,951–$117,775 and two paint-with-beads quotes at about $51,456 and $77,247. Lane Line LLC submitted the low paint-with-beads quote of $51,456.08 and proposed reflective markers; the road manager recommended the lower, non-bid threshold option to address an immediate safety concern for the road’s roughly 3,000 daily motorists.
“Based on the quotes … I would recommend that the board would use the $51,456.08 that was recommended from Lane Line LLC,” the road manager said. The board approved the recommendation and authorized IMS (inspection/oversight) to supervise installation and provide testing documentation.
Supervisors discussed available budget lines and noted a remaining balance that would partially cover the work; additional paving or striping funds would be moved from other budget items as needed. The motion carried.
