At its April 9 meeting the Nassau County School Board approved multiple action items and contracts by voice vote.
Key approvals:
• Mill Creek Preserve mitigation agreement: Board approved a mitigation/concurrency agreement for the Mill Creek Preserve project after Dr. Burns presented a project map and location details.
• Cornerstone Classical Academy contract: The board approved a standard state contract for Cornerstone Classical Academy; Mr. Steger reviewed the document and staff provided it to the charter's attorney.
• Personnel job descriptions: The board approved a Navy National Defense Cadet Corps/NJROTC job description and a registered nurse job description.
• YSAC welding classroom addition and demolition (Phase 2): Scorpio Construction was approved to complete phase 2 work on the YSAC welding classroom addition and associated demolition for an amount not to exceed $2,384,490.
• Phase 3 mechanical retrofit at a district high school: The board approved Thomas May to complete mechanical retrofit work with a not-to-exceed amount of $3,884,000.
All listed items were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting. The board also approved the consent agenda (which included an added FBLA out-of-state travel request). Following the regular session the board moved into an executive session in the district HR office.
