Committee advances package of bills on tourism, procurement, licensing and business rules

A House committee moved more than a dozen bills out of committee in a rapid session that featured short sponsor explanations, limited questioning and mostly unanimous or strongly favorable votes.

Among the measures advanced were SB 81826 (removes the sunset on the Enterprise Zone Incentive Leverage Act), SB 1327 (gives the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Board full authority and allows the governor to appoint officers), SB 1447 (modifies the RFP process for the state employees prescription drug plan as part of a package), SB 1641 (requires an email address in LLC articles of organization), and SB 1326 (modernizes self‑storage facility operations). Several industry cleanup bills and regulatory clarifications also passed.

Most bills were moved with a short sponsor explanation and no substantive debate. Where questions were asked, sponsors generally described the bills as technical fixes or clarifications, or said they came at the request of a state agency such as the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission. Vote tallies from the committee record included several unanimous or near‑unanimous approvals (for example, SB 1447 and SB 1443 advanced 15–0) and a small number of measures that passed with single‑digit opposition.

The committee's pace was described as "expedited" by the chair, who said additional oversight meetings remain in the session calendar. All advanced bills will proceed to floor scheduling for further consideration.
