Brentwood commissioners on April 13 approved an on‑premises beer permit for Amaravati Indian Cuisine after a short presentation by the restaurant’s new owner, Ravi Shankar Shetkar.

Shekhar introduced himself to the board and said he recently took over the business at 5012 Thoroughbred Lane. He told commissioners he lives in Brentwood and has operated restaurants in Davidson County: “We’re bringing some authentic Indian food to this area,” Shetkar said.

During a question‑and‑answer period, commissioners pressed the applicant on staff training and how the restaurant would verify legal drinking age.
