Jamestown seeks $20,000 for community park; Concordia Senior Center requests $7,927 range

City and nonprofit representatives presented local grant requests to the Cloud County board March 30 but the minutes do not show final board action on those requests.

Jason Martin, representing the City of Jamestown, asked the board to consider a Wind Farm grant of $20,000 toward a Community Park Project estimated at $48,500 to renovate an empty lot with playground equipment, a concrete slab with a basketball goal, a sandbox and a shelter with picnic tables.

Richard Hubert and Gary Caspers of the Concordia Senior Center requested $7,927 to remove, purchase and install a commercial kitchen range in the center’s kitchen.

Separately, Emergency Management Director Makenna Haas discussed applying for a $20,000 grant to purchase two tornado shelters, said she would attend a grant-writing class in May and noted the county will not receive EMPG funds because it did not conduct enough exercises in 2025. The minutes record the presentations and grant plans but do not record funding decisions or next steps for the community grant applications.
