The Oklahoma State Senate used part of its opening session on April 13 to recognize athletic and community achievements and to introduce visiting professionals and student pages. Senators presented citations honoring Murray State College’s shotgun team for back‑to‑back national titles and Coweta High School’s varsity wrestling team for a record season.
Senator Albert asked unanimous consent to welcome the Murray State team to the floor and introduced Dr. Tim Fulton, president of Murray State College, and coaching staff. Dr. Fulton and Coach Scott Robertson addressed the chamber; Robertson said it was “quite an honor to be here,” and both emphasized the program’s focus on skill, discipline and safe firearms education.
The clerk read a formal citation commending Murray State College’s performance across multiple events at the 2026 ACUI collegiate clay division national championship and directed that the citation be presented. Senator Albert and other members led the chamber in applause for the team.
Senator Julie McIntosh introduced a citation for the Coweta High School varsity wrestling team, citing its 2026 Class 5A dual state championship, record team points, multiple individual champions, and NCAA scholarship offers for seniors. The clerk read the Coweta citation and the chamber again applauded.
Earlier in the session, senators recognized Dr. Matthew Jared as doctor of the day, Dr. Kaylee Gregg as psychologist of the day, and Kendra Stines as nurse of the day. The Senate then called forward student pages who introduced themselves and their sponsoring senators.
The session proceeded after the presentations to committee announcements and routine business.
