The Stadium District board on April 10 moved to close its executive director application period effective April 10 at 5 p.m., after Chair Graham told members the search produced 425 submissions.
Chair Graham said staff had conducted an initial sort of candidates into yes/maybe/no stacks and reported “about 212” in the strongest category at one check, and he urged a firm closing date so reviewers can finish evaluations. “We can chase our tail on this for forever,” Chair Graham said, stressing the need to stop new inflows so the review can advance.
Member Khan proposed and moved the April 10 closing date; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded on the transcript. Board members asked staff to post a clear notice on the district’s website announcing the closing; Manjula said the notice would be posted the same day.
Board discussion described the next steps: staff and the candidate-review team will continue to vet applicants, focus on the “yes” and “maybe” piles, and prepare a short list of finalists for interviews. Chair Graham said the board aims to present no more than five finalists for full interviews and suggested interviewing could take place as early as June, depending on scheduling.
The board also asked staff to clarify the application-closure process, confirm what material will be provided to reviewers and the timeline for follow-up. The motion to close the application period does not itself select finalists; it simply sets the deadline and allows staff to move from intake to review.
