The Tecumseh City Council voted April 6 to approve its consent agenda, which included the March 17, 2026 meeting minutes and payment of city bills totaling $46,166.80. Councilmember Lorie Topp moved to approve the consent agenda; Councilmember Lance Beethe seconded. Voting aye were Beethe, Britt, Goracke, Speckmann and Topp; Alicia Brommer was absent. The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 5:16 p.m.
The consent agenda’s listed payments included a $15,000 disbursement to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, $3,750 to the Tecumseh Airport Authority, payroll of $16,708.34, and smaller vendor payments; the minutes include a full itemized list in the official record.
Prior to the vote the council received routine departmental reports. Michelle Hutt provided the sheriff’s report. The City Clerk announced the city-wide clean-up scheduled for Saturday, May 2, and reported that Equalization Funds for FY25-26 are projected to drop from $228,323.87 to $52,294.84. The Streets report noted the Downtown Preservation Project began April 1 with work starting at 2nd and Broadway. Utility and economic development staff member Doug Goracke said water options for Nio Corp continue to be evaluated, that crews finished the generator building pad at the power plant and hauled rock behind the square, and that staff plan to bury a section of overhead distribution. Parks staff reported ongoing interviews for summer pool personnel and that Miller Painting is returning to finish pool painting.
