Commissioners approve smaller Planning & Zoning Commission, sign letters to affected members

The Bonneville County Commissioners on April 9 voted to accept a staff-led reorganization of the county
pos;s Planning & Zoning Commission that reduces overall membership toward a target of nine commissioners and authorized signing letters to members who will be relieved of duty.

Staff said the recommendation followed guidance from a staff member referred to as Austin and cited state association guidance suggesting smaller decision-making bodies can be more effective. Staff also cited poor attendance among some members and said most remaining members
pos; terms do not expire until 2028, so immediate reappointments were not proposed.

A commissioner moved to accept the reorganization and to sign letters thanking those leaving the commission and to proceed with the administrative changes; the motions were seconded and approved unanimously. Staff indicated letters were prepared for signatures.

Staff and commissioners noted the change does not preclude future adjustments to the commission
pos;s size and that membership and recruitment practices will be reviewed when vacancies occur.
