The Woodland Park Downtown Development Authority voted to extend the 2026 small-business grant application deadline from May 1 to June 1, 2026, after hearing requests from Main Street and local business representatives for more time to secure bids and prepare applications.
Committee member (speaker 6) moved to extend the deadline and the motion was seconded; the chair announced the board approved the extension by voice vote. "I will make a motion to extend the deadline from May 1 to 06/01/2026," the mover stated, and the board subsequently announced, "We extended the deadline." The board directed staff to update the website and publicize the new deadline.
The extension followed a Main Street report that organizers are still recruiting potential applicants and recommended paid advertising in local papers and sustained social-media outreach to boost participation. City staff also advised the board that the grant review process operates on a rolling timetable and that, if the board chooses to extend the window, the extension would require a formal motion, second and vote.
Next steps included staff obtaining advertising quotes, circulating options by email, and updating grant materials so applicants can submit under the new June 1 cutoff. The board did not change the project-completion deadlines tied to grant awards: the final project completion date discussed in the meeting remains in the fall schedule.
