Board designates county auditor as Budget Director and approves $3,500 stipend

The Tama County Board of Supervisors on March 30 approved Resolution 3-30-2026B, naming the Tama County Auditor to serve as the county’s Budget Director and detailing the position’s duties.

The resolution, moved by Supervisor David Turner and seconded by Supervisor Heather Knebel, lists responsibilities assigned to the Budget Director including assuring compliance with state budget law, preparing the county budget and related publications, compiling department budgets, filing required reports on the State of Iowa website, projecting anticipated income/expenditures, assisting department heads with budget management, coordinating budget amendments and supporting the annual audit through lead schedules and reconciliations. The board approved a $3,500 stipend to be paid from the Board of Supervisors’ budget to the auditor for carrying out these duties.

The resolution passed by roll call vote; all present supervisors voted aye. Auditor Karen Rohrs was identified in the resolution as the designated Budget Director; the auditor’s office will carry out the listed duties and complete required state filings and public notices.
