Committee approves truss and soffit work at Tomlinson; members debate paying now for project‑adventure wall painting

Chair (S1) moved and the committee approved a $12,858 contingency draw to paint steel trusses in the main and auxiliary gyms, which the chair described as including paint removal and preparation. Presenter (S5) explained the scope: "It does paint prep, all that to make sure it's good to go." The truss work had been inspected before the motion.

On the soffit RFI (ADP 005 / RFI 009), Presenter (S5) said contract drawings showed a single soffit but field conditions required two separate soffits with additional framing and drywall. The committee unanimously approved the estimate of $6,992 to address the framing, drywall and associated labor.

A separate discussion focused on painting the project‑adventure room walls. Presenters said the school painting was accelerated into the spring rather than occurring in the summer, prompting a funding request. Presenter (S5) reported an earlier quote of $14,303 but then provided an updated estimate: "The adjusted price ... drops from $14,303 to $11,001.03," which staff said reflected markups and current pricing. Some committee members expressed concern about using contingency for work perceived as outside base HVAC/IAQ scope; others said doing the work now would realize mobilization efficiencies and likely save money.

Chair (S1) called the question and the committee approved the ATP for the project‑adventure wall painting to be funded from contingency.

The committee directed staff to reflect revised pricing and to track contingency usage; no further appeals were made during the session.
