At the May 7 meeting New Horizons representatives Susan Gallagher and Karen Rickman presented materials to mark Mental Health Awareness Month and outlined plans to expand services and improve access to care in the county over the next three years.
“May is Mental Health Awareness Month,” Susan Gallagher said, and county officials accepted a packet of information for publication in the county newsletter. New Horizons staff emphasized outreach and school‑based services and said they plan incremental service expansion over several years.
The Commission adopted a proclamation recognizing Community Action Month and unanimously approved new fee schedules for county health and enrichment services after motions from Commissioners Damon Hoyte and Timothy Biddle.
Separately, by resolution the Commission appointed County Manager Thomas Weaver to the Chattahoochee County Board of Health to fill a vacancy. The resolution states Weaver’s term begins May 7, 2024 and expires December 31, 2026; the motion to appoint was unanimous.
County staff and commissioners asked that New Horizons information be included in the county newsletter and noted the county would follow up on service coordination with health and planning staff.
