Livingston Parish approves sidewalk-waiver for Ponds of Jubin Lake subdivision

The Livingston Parish Council on April 9 approved a resolution waiving section 125‑77 b11 of the ordinances to allow sidewalks in the parish right‑of‑way for the Ponds of Jubin Lake subdivision.

Councilman Waskom explained that the waiver will allow sidewalks to be placed within a right‑of‑way and that the developer will enter a hold‑harmless agreement with the parish. Public Works and the district indicated they will enter a cooperative endeavor agreement and accept maintenance responsibilities for the sidewalks.

Council members discussed placement near the right‑of‑way and confirmed maintenance commitments; the measure passed 9‑0. The council instructed staff to finalize the cooperative agreement and to verify maintenance responsibilities before adoption.
