The Arkansas Senate on April 8 unanimously approved the nomination of Sabrina Llewellyn as director and secretary of the Senate after President Pro Tempore Bart Hester presented her to the chamber.
"I was raised to do what I could to make sure that the work I do, the service I give, and the life that I live speak for me," Llewellyn said after senators adopted the motion. She noted her 23 years of service and said she hoped that record "has done just that" in leading to the appointment.
Senator Bart Hester moved that Llewellyn be hired as director of the Senate. The chamber closed debate by voice and adopted the motion; senators answered "aye" on the voice vote and the motion carried.
Following the vote, Llewellyn called the roll and performed the procedural duties of the office. Senators who spoke at the time welcomed the appointment and expressed appreciation for her experience.
The confirmation was handled by voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded on the floor transcript. The motion’s adoption completes the Senate’s organizational step to staff its leadership for the fiscal session.
