Menomonee Falls board approves festival permits, new liquor license and several public-works contracts

The Menomonee Falls Village Board of Trustees approved a slate of consent items and awarded multiple public-works contracts in a meeting that also included a motion to enter closed session to discuss pending negotiations.

Village Manager Mark Fitzgerald summarized the consent agenda, which included unenclosed premise permits for an All Saints/Knights of Columbus festival at Millpond Park and a Friends of Old Falls Village Revolutionary War Weekend beer-garden area, a street-closure and car-show permit for Menomonee Falls Events on May 23, 2026, and an application for a new Class B fermented malt beverage and Class B liquor license for Menomonee Falls 9319 Inc. (Applebee’s/IHOP). Fitzgerald said there were “no police or planning concerns.” The board approved the consent agenda unanimously after a motion and second.

On committee items, trustees moved and approved the following awards and authorizations:
- Design services and construction documents with Dan Beyer Architects for a centralized public works facility (project 40049). The manager said the plan centralizes public works and engineering functions to free space for an upcoming police remodel. The motion passed unanimously.
- Award of the 2026 curb, gutter and sidewalk construction contracts (projects 41261 and 41263) to State Contractors in the amount of $173,530; the trustee reported bids came in under budget, enabling expansion of repair areas. Approved unanimously.
- Award for Dardis Avenue storm sewer and street reconstruction (project 41267) to Start Pavement for $544,567.30. The project will replace the full roadway, curb and gutter, storm sewer, base course and sidewalks/driveway approaches; trustees said the work was under budget. Approved unanimously.
- Structural demolition contract for Fire Station 2 and Station 4 (project numbers 22037 and 20023) to H.M. Brandt LLC for $97,081; trustees noted Station 2 (vacated) will become additional parking for Willowwood Park and Station 4 will be repurposed as a police/public-safety training center. Approved unanimously.

Votes at a glance: all listed motions (consent agenda; awards for projects 40049, 41261/41263, 41267, 22037/20023; and the motion to convene closed session) passed by unanimous voice vote as recorded at the meeting.

The board later voted unanimously to convene into closed session under Wis. Stat. § 19.85(1)(e) to discuss negotiations with the Menomonee Falls Historical Society over a possible lease at Old Falls Village and to discuss terms with Waste Management of Wisconsin for curbside refuse and recycling collection.

The meeting record shows the board handled multiple infrastructure contracts and event approvals in a single session; staff were directed to follow up on next steps and to carry out project scheduling and environmental/contract compliance work where required.
