Brad Simon sworn in after certification of special election

Cole Jester, secretary of state, informed the Senate that in accordance with Arkansas law he certified the special election results for Senate District 26 held on March 3, 2026, saying, "I, Cole Jester, secretary of state for the state of Arkansas, hereby certify that Brad Simon received the highest number of votes in Senate District 26." Senators congratulated the winner.

Chief Justice Karen Baker administered a ceremonial oath to Brad Simon. Simon repeated the oath, pledging to "support the Constitution of The United States and the constitution of the state of Arkansas" and to "faithfully discharge the duties of Senate Seat District 26." The court official and senators exchanged congratulations after the oath.

President Pro Tempore Bart Hester and leaders presented a Senate lapel pin to Simon. The president pro tem also appointed members to notify the governor and the House of Representatives that the Senate was organized and ready for business.
