Sen. Baldwin: conference report for House Bill 1343 adds House Bill 1040 penalties and a training-waiver recruiting tool; committee reports measure 11–0

Sen. Baldwin presented the conference committee report for House Bill 1343, noting the report adds the provisions of House Bill 1040 as passed in the House.

"The conference committee report, adds House Bill 1040, as the bill passed the House," Baldwin said, describing the measure as enhancing penalties for battery on a health-care provider and including a waiver for certain training requirements for out-of-state law enforcement officers.

Baldwin described the waiver as a recruiting tool for the state police and invited questions from committee members. No substantive amendments were taken during committee discussion.

The committee moved to report the conference committee report and the roll call returned 11 ayes, 0 nays. The committee reported the measure to the Senate.
