The Georgetown City Council voted unanimously on two ordinance matters at its March 16 meeting.
Ordinance 2026-179: Council approved an amendment to the city’s water rates package to include out-of-town rates that had been omitted from the first draft. The ordinance passed on a motion by Alder Curt Gordon and a second by Alder Nick Krabel, with a recorded vote of 7–0.
Ordinance 2026-181: The mayor reported an individual is interested in rehabilitating the property at 218 E. Oak St. The council approved the ordinance that will allow the city to proceed with disposition and directed staff to place the property up for sealed bid. The motion (Alder Weaver / Alder Krabel) passed unanimously, 7–0.
Why it matters: the water-rate amendment clarifies billing for out-of-town customers and the action on 218 E. Oak St. initiates a public sealed-bid process for a municipal property that may be rehabilitated by a private party.
What’s next: both ordinances were approved March 16 and will proceed under city administrative processes (billing implementation for the rate change; sealed-bid solicitation for 218 E. Oak St.).
