Committee approves reclassified assistant superintendent/director of student services position; committee congratulates Jill

The Blackstone‑Millville Regional School Committee voted unanimously March 23 to approve an Assistant Superintendent/Director of Student Services position that reclassifies duties now performed by the Director of Learner Support Services. "This is not new money. It's not a new position. It's just a realignment of dollars that we are currently spending and have in our budget," DeFalco said, describing the job as reflecting work that is already being done. Dan Keith made the motion to approve the assistant superintendent/director of student services position; Tammy Lemieux seconded. After brief discussion about whether to label the change a 'slash' title rather than a 'merge' of positions and a question about curriculum responsibilities, the committee voted unanimously to approve the position, with an effective date discussed as July 1.
