Public Safety Memorial committee presents $44,938 cost estimate; council to review design

Fred Smith, co-project manager for the Yanceyville Public Safety Memorial, updated the council on committee work and presented current vendor quotes. Smith listed itemized estimates: memorial $22,565; town seal in black granite (8x8) $18,964; footers $1,500 and $1,100; one 20-foot Yanceyville flagpole $809.17; total estimate $44,938.17. Smith said the committee is on track with design and planning and asked the council to decide whether to include the Town Seal.

Mayor Alvin Foster commented the 8x8 town seal is large; Smith said the Public Safety Committee will provide a full report for council review with further recommendations. No formal funding or appropriation was made at the April 6 meeting.
