Yanceyville council declares portions of recently purchased airport land surplus, authorizes subdivision and sale

Following a closed session under G.S. 143-318.11 for contractual and real-estate matters, Mayor Alvin Foster reported that the council would declare marked portions of a recently purchased airport property in West Yanceyville as surplus. Councilman Brian Massey moved to declare the marked portions surplus; Mayor Pro Tem Odessa Gwynn seconded and the motion passed unanimously.

Massey then moved to authorize Town Manager Kamara Barnett to proceed with subdivision of the property and to determine how best to sell the portions outlined on the attached map; the motion was seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Gwynn and passed unanimously. The minutes note an attached map marking the portions to be declared surplus.

Council’s motions direct staff to take the next administrative steps to subdivide and market the property; any final sale would follow statutory procedures and further council approvals where required.
