Rules committee clears distribution of conference committee reports for six bills; votes recorded

The House Rules Committee approved a series of motions to amend House Rule 155.3 so conference committee reports could be provided to members and held for one hour, clearing several bills for further House consideration.

Representative Slager repeatedly moved the rule‑amendment motion for distribution and holding of conference committee reports. The committee approved the distribution/holding motions for the conference committee reports on Senate Bill 271, House Bill 12‑77, House Bill 1,200, Senate Bill 144 and House Bill 12‑10; roll calls in committee were recorded as unanimous (9‑0) on each motion.

Representative Lindauer described the conference report for Senate Bill 271 as narrowing the definition of telecommunications equipment and changing who may sell certain network wire. Representative Barrett summarized the conference changes to HB 12‑77 as removing late policy additions and a line of trailer language that had consensus for removal. Chairman Pressell said HB 1,200 carries parts of the INDOT agency bill and non‑domicile CDL provisions added in the Senate; Representative Roehrig noted SB 144 had unanimous support through prior committee and floor votes.

The committee’s action is procedural: the motions permit members to receive conference committee reports and hold them for an hour before further consideration or floor action. Each motion was moved, seconded and passed by roll call as recorded in the Rules Committee proceeding.
