The Plaistow Select Board voted March 30 to allow the recreation department to use the Town Green for a “Hometown Harvest” festival on Sept. 25, with vendor setup scheduled 7–9 a.m. and the event running 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Recreation Director Jack Lanier told the board he envisioned a craft fair and farmers‑market–style vendor area with local nonprofit booths, food trucks and family programming. “My ideal date for it would be September 25 from 9AM to 3PM with setup from 7 to 9AM,” Lanier said, noting activities would include children’s games, a scarecrow‑making contest and a vendor raffle.
A Select Board member moved to grant the recreation department permission to use the Town Green; another member seconded the motion and the board voted in favor. The board also discussed spring programming run by the recreation department, including a toddler egg hunt on Friday at 11 a.m., a townwide Easter egg hunt Saturday at 10 a.m., April‑vacation activities and a May 9 townwide yard sale.
Lanier said police detail will be provided for the Easter egg hunts to ensure public safety. He encouraged volunteers and described posted sign‑ups on the department website. The board asked staff to post event details on the town website once logistics are finalized.
The approval was procedural—granting use of town property—and does not create any new permit or fee policy; any vendor or parade participation was discussed as part of later Old Home Day planning and will follow the town’s vendor and parade procedures.
