Select Board authorizes town manager to execute $35,000 Rockingham County funding request to add third dispatch console

The Plaistow Select Board on March 30 authorized Town Manager Greg Colby to execute documents for a Rockingham County 'non‑county specials' funding request of $35,000 to add a third dispatch console in the dispatch center.

A board member explained that the fire chief applied for the $35,000 grant to install a third dispatch station to improve redundancy and to accommodate periods when multiple dispatchers are needed. Colby said he had signed conditional offers for two additional dispatchers to bring staffing back up to seven and supported the hardware request as a way to maintain operational capacity without increased recurring costs to taxpayers.

A select board member moved to authorize the town manager to enter into the agreement with Rockingham County for the non‑county specials fund; the motion was seconded and the board voted in favor. The authorization was recorded as effective from March 30, 2026, for a minimum of 30 days to permit execution of any required paperwork.
