The Valley County Board of Commissioners approved several local board appointments during its January meetings and corrected a statutory term-length error for the newly formed Cherry Creek Water & Sewer District.
At the Jan. 7 session the board appointed Mark Johnson and Gifford Fjeld to the Hinsdale TV District Board (terms ending June 30, 2027 and June 30, 2028, respectively). The board also accepted a resignation from St. Marie Fire Board member Benjamin Webster and later appointed Ben Carlson to fill that vacancy.
On Jan. 14 the commissioners approved five appointments to the newly formed Cherry Creek Water & Sewer District. The names approved at that meeting were Bob Hanson, Trevor Waarvik, Scott Stanley, Kyle Schulz and Aaron Hlad. The initial terms recorded at the Jan. 14 meeting listed varying term lengths; after reviewing Montana Code Annotated §7-13-2234, Clerk & Recorder Marie Pippin advised that when a five-member water/sewer district board is formed two members must serve four-year terms and three members must serve two-year terms. The minutes record a correction so that Bob Hanson and Trevor Waarvik serve four-year terms and Scott Stanley, Kyle Schulz and Aaron Hlad serve two-year terms.
All appointments were approved by motion and recorded as passing unanimously.
