The Oklahoma State Senate used floor time on April 7 to recognize student athletes, academic champions and civic groups.
Senator Weaver introduced Dominic Mathias, a Moore High School sophomore honored for winning three AAU Junior Olympic titles and setting a national age‑group 1,500‑meter record; the clerk read a citation noting Mathias’s national and state accomplishments and his membership in the National Honor Society. Coaches and family members accepted recognition on the floor.
The Senate also read citations recognizing Calumet High School’s 2025 class B baseball championship and a consecutive 2026 Class B basketball championship, and Morris High School’s academic bowl state championship. Senators introduced students, coaches and school principals for gallery recognition.
The Oklahoma Federation of Republican Women received a citation acknowledging volunteer work and civic engagement; OKFRW president Kayla Blunt spoke on behalf of the group and cited 72,000 volunteer hours performed in the last year, which she translated into an estimated economic value.
These recognitions were ceremonial; no legislative actions or appropriations were attached to the floor citations.
