Council reports closed‑session update on zoning clearance and agrees to monitor Vasquez Perdomo litigation

After adjourning into closed session, the council reconvened and received two staff updates. City staff reported that the applicant for a project at 242 East Ohio Avenue agreed to submit the municipal‑code applications necessary for use of an arcade plaza at that site.

On a separate legal matter, council members instructed staff to coordinate with outside counsel representing a coalition of local governments to consider participation—in pro bono form and limited to filings such as amicus briefs or declarations—in Vasquez Perdomo v. Noam, a federal case involving immigration and Customs and Border Patrol matters. Staff noted any city involvement would be handled pro bono by that legal team.
