Sage McCormick told the Ballard Planning Commission on March 3 that he would like to rezone a strip of property at 3500 East 1000 North from Commercial 3 to RM1 (single‑family residential) and subdivide it into eight lots.
Board Member Mark Redmond recommended McCormick consider moving the property boundary back to align with pending setback ordinance changes. Redmond reviewed procedural steps for a rezoning application, saying applications and supporting documents must be submitted through the online process and that a public notice must be published at least three weeks before a hearing. Materials for an April 1 meeting, Redmond said, should be submitted three weeks prior to avoid delay.
McCormick said he was undecided about keeping a half‑acre setback or extending development to the property line. No formal application or vote was recorded at the March 3 meeting; Redmond emphasized that formal action requires a completed application and timely notification.
