Town says Comcast contractor will repair damaged road shoulders after fiber install

Interlaken Town council members discussed damage to road shoulders that the town says was caused by contractor work related to a Comcast fiber installation.

The Chair said town staff walked the neighborhood, marked sinkholes and soft shoulders, and notified the contractor. "They did a terrible job in some places," the Chair said, and added that the contractor responded quickly to the town's complaints and will return to remedy soft spots and other problem areas. Town public‑works staff will monitor and supervise the work.

A resident reporter and other council members described some households being too far from the road for a direct connection and noted varied service experiences. The council said residents should expect to see crews and markings on neighborhood roads during the coming days while repairs are scheduled.

The March 3 meeting did not record a formal claim naming the contractor beyond the pronunciation captured in the meeting audio; staff said the town had notified the prime contractor and would document repairs.
