The Village of Fruitport Budget Council approved several fiscal actions during its March 30, 2026 meeting, including amendments to the 2025–2026 budget, an investment policy change and authorization for vehicle repairs.
Treasurer Ann LaCroix presented amendments to the 2025–2026 budget. Councilmember Carl Rothenberger moved to approve the amendments, a motion supported by President Roger Vanderstelt; the roll call vote recorded Yes votes from Jeff Guiles, Chris LeFaive, Bill Overkamp, Carl Rothenberger and Roger Vanderstelt, and the motion carried.
The council also voted to add “money market account” to the list of authorized investments in the Village of Fruitport Investment Policy. President Roger Vanderstelt moved the change, which Councilmember Bill Overkamp supported. The roll call vote was unanimous among the five council members present.
Separately, the council approved repairs to a village yellow plow truck per an estimate from Exit 16 Fleet Repair, not to exceed $10,000. Councilmember Rothenberger moved the repair authorization, supported by Jeff Guiles; the measure passed on a roll call vote with all five council members voting yes.
The meeting record shows no public comment during either public comment period. The minutes also show that Treasurer LaCroix presented the proposed 2026–2027 budget and that discussion followed; the minutes provided do not include substantive details of that discussion.
Procedural business at the start of the meeting included approval of the agenda (an amendment to add the truck repairs item) and approval of the March 9 budget meeting minutes; both motions were carried on roll call votes. President Roger Vanderstelt called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m., and the council adjourned at 4:54 p.m.
Actions taken were recorded by Clerk Amy Haack in the meeting minutes.
