Fruitport council approves $4,676 purchase of 60 replacement American flags

The Village of Fruitport Council voted unanimously Jan. 19 to purchase 60 American flags and mounting accessories at a total cost of $4,676.40 to replace flags beginning to show wear.

The motion to approve the quote from Americanflags.com was made by Councilmember Carl Rothenberger and supported by Councilmember Jeff Guiles. The roll-call vote recorded Guiles, LeFaive, Overkamp, Rothenberger and President Roger Vanderstelt voting yes; no council members voted no.

Council members said the purchase was intended to replace aging flags displayed by the village. The minutes do not record further details about installation or the replacement schedule.

The approval follows routine agenda business and was one of several administrative motions the council handled at the meeting. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 16 for budget work and a fuller agenda.
