Fruitport council adopts one-reservation-per-day park policy, establishes fees and deposits

The Village of Fruitport Council on Jan. 19 adopted a new park reservation procedure establishing a one-reservation-per-day limit for park amenities and a new fee and deposit schedule.

Councilmember Carl Rothenberger moved, with Jeff Guiles supporting, to set reservation fees at $100 per amenity for village residents and $150 for non-residents, with cleanup deposits of $100 for residents and $150 for non-residents. The motion also exempted nonprofits from the reservation fee while charging a $150 deposit and directed staff to track the number and names of nonprofits that reserve the facility for future fee decisions. The roll-call vote was unanimous.

Clerk Amy Haack had presented a use-request letter from the Fruitport Lions Club during public comment; council agreed to place an item on the Feb. meeting agenda to consider the Lions Club’s request to hold an Easter egg hunt at Pomona Park.

The minutes do not record changes to insurance, staffing, or how staff will enforce the one-per-day rule. The council did not specify how tracked nonprofit reservation data will be used beyond “future fee decision making.”
