The Beardstown City Council on May 21 adopted an ordinance amending Chapter 21 of the city code governing water and sewer matters and approved Payment Resolution No. 5 for the USDA Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project.
Alderperson Dawn Seward moved that the council adopt the ordinance amending Chapter 21 (Water, Sewers and Sewage; Article II—Water Disposal); Alderperson Chris Baer seconded the motion, which passed by roll call vote, 7-0 (Baer, Buhlig, Culves, Davis, Harbin, Schramm and Seward voting yea; Taylor absent).
The action updates city code provisions for the municipal water and sewer system; the transcript records the ordinance title but does not include the ordinance number or the ordinance text beyond the subject matter.
Councillors also approved Payment Resolution No. 5, a $558,167.37 disbursement for the USDA Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project. Alderperson Dawn Seward moved the payment resolution; Alderperson Eric Harbin seconded. The resolution passed 7-0. The resolution listed Hood Construction Group Midwest LLC as recipient of $547,226.60 and Benton & Associates, Inc. receiving $10,940.77.
City Clerk Brian Ruch presented the clerk and treasurer reports at the meeting, showing April cash receipts of $1,667,994.67 and combined fund balances including a General Fund balance of $2,861,453.72.
The council resumed other business after the votes and scheduled follow-up as needed on infrastructure matters.
