Duchesne County commissioners unanimously approved three road-equipment purchases on March 30, directing Fund 41 to cover the costs.
Public Works Director Mike Casper presented vendor quotes for a forklift and recommended a Hyundai 5,000-lb electric model from HOJ Forklift, LLC for $49,500. Commissioners discussed warranties and procurement options before Commissioner Tracy Killian moved to accept Director Casper’s recommendation; Commissioner Jeff Chugg seconded and the motion passed 3–0.
Casper also presented two quotes for a mobile truck lift and recommended the local NAPA Auto Parts option for $67,666.91, noting NAPA could store the lift until the county’s new building is ready. Commissioners approved that purchase by unanimous vote.
The body ratified a previously discussed purchase of a Wheeler Machinery Co. 938 QC wheel loader for $255,750. County leaders said the loader had been discussed in an earlier session but not formally approved until this meeting. Commissioner Killian moved to ratify the purchase, Commissioner Chugg seconded, and the motion passed 3–0.
Together the three items total $372,916.91 and will come from Fund 41. Commissioners noted the county’s need to maintain and replace heavy equipment to keep road operations running and reviewed vendor warranties and delivery/storage logistics during the discussion. The three motions were recorded as passed by Commissioners Killian, Chugg and Chairman Greg Miles.
The Commission did not attach conditions or amendments to these purchases at the meeting; delivery schedules and warranty administration will be managed by Public Works.
