Council approves rezoning for planned development near Justin Road

The Rockwall City Council unanimously approved an ordinance rezoning an approximately 80.5‑acre tract north of Justin Road from agricultural and light industrial to a planned development district for limited commercial and light industrial uses.

The ordinance was read into the record describing the tract and the intended change of land use to a planned development district, and council members voted to adopt the ordinance during the action items portion of the meeting. The change was described by staff as supporting a local business’s desire to move a corporate office to the site and to accommodate specific loading/unloading design features intended to mitigate noise and emissions near a railroad spur.

Next steps: staff will process any associated development applications and conditions consistent with the approved planned development district ordinance.
