Rangeley commission approves first reading of revised park rules, discusses hours

The Rangeley Park Commission voted March 19 to approve the first reading of a revised Town Park rules and regulations document and asked members to review the draft ahead of a second reading.

Chair (speaker 1) moved to take the draft in for a first reading so commissioners could check for typos and omissions; the motion was seconded and passed on a voice vote. Staff member (speaker 4) flagged changes to the hours section and read the current working language: "Park hours of operation are 5AM till half hour after sunset." Commissioners discussed whether posted closing or enforcement language should instead reflect a specific clock time (some signs in the park currently show 10 p.m.) and agreed to resolve the exact closing time when they reconvene.

The first-reading vote advances the draft to the next meeting for a second reading and final action. The chair asked members to review highlighted sections and return suggested edits; staff will incorporate corrections before the second reading.
