Committee clears technical cleanup to mental‑health advocacy board membership

The committee reported House Bill 574 favorably after sponsor comment that the bill simply corrects the formal names of two organizations listed on the Mental Health Advocacy Service board (updating the Mental Health Association of Louisiana to "Louisiana Mental Health Association" and clarifying the Louisiana State Medical Society name). Rebecca Mayrix, director of MHAS, described the agency's role representing clients in civil commitment and child protection proceedings and said the change was intended to fix quorum problems caused by name mismatches.

There were no objections and the clerk announced HB 574 reported favorable.

Because the bill makes technical, non‑substantive corrections to the statute and does not change board structure, committee members moved it forward by voice consent.
