Longwood Commission approves consent agenda, statutory resolutions and an ordinance in unanimous votes

The Longwood City Commission on Jan. 19 completed several routine and legislative items by unanimous votes.

Consent agenda (items 10A–E) was approved on a motion by Commissioner Boney and seconded by Commissioner McMillan; the roll call was 5–0.

The commission adopted Resolution 25‑17‑06, which notifies state tax authorities the city may use the uniform method for collecting non‑ad valorem assessments under Florida law; Finance Director Dustin Wilbright explained the resolution is required annually under state statute.

The commission adopted Resolution 26‑17‑10 to authorize publishing legally required advertisements and public notices on a publicly accessible website under section 50.0311, Florida Statutes, formally designating the city’s chosen online platform as the official mechanism for online legal notice publication.

Ordinance 25‑22‑77, an amendment to the Longwood Development Code adding a section on declared emergency relief, was read by title and adopted after a public hearing with no speakers.

The meeting also recorded approval of the interlocal agreement with Seminole County for the distribution of opioid settlement funds (agenda item 12B) and authorization for the city manager to execute retainers for PFAS litigation and testing (agenda item 12A). All recorded roll-call votes on these items were unanimous 5–0.
