The Middleton Arts Committee on March 19 reviewed preparations for Artwalk and a slate of pop-up events through the summer and fall, confirmed musical acts, approved acquiring a reusable button-making machine and discussed volunteer recruitment strategies.
JoLynn said the committee has filled about 50 of 70 Artwalk spaces and announced three acts for the music stage: Madison Music Foundry, Blue Spruce and Some Assembly Required, with the third act providing sound for all bands. Committee members emphasized the need for a volunteer sign-up system; Michelle (not present) is expected to create a SignUpGenius listing volunteer slots.
Members outlined pop-up activities (flower crafts, mural work, bookmarks for a summer reading kickoff, origami frogs for a night market) and reviewed festival dates including Bridal Fest (June 13), Stonehurst Green night market (July 23), Mustard Fest (Aug. 1), the Renaissance Fair (Oct. 3) and several October events that may compete for volunteers. Committee members discussed buying a button-making machine (approx. $100) that could be reused across pop-up events; they agreed the arts budget can absorb the purchase.
To staff events, the committee discussed outreach to Key Club and other high-school volunteer groups, Parks & Rec partnerships and possibly National Honor Society or regional student organizations. Members agreed to place a shared supply order later in the month and to report back on volunteer sign-ups at the April meeting.
