The Scott County Fiscal Court recognized seven local volunteers from CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) at its work session, thanking them for their work representing children in family court proceedings.
Melinda (Hamilton) told the court CASA Lexington is the only program in the state supported by both city and county funding across the seven counties it serves. She said Scott County had 28 volunteers who served 68 children in 2025, and the seven volunteers receiving Serve Kentucky awards logged a combined 1,330 hours last year. Melinda noted the awards are provided through a partnership with AmeriCorps, the office of the governor and the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
Judge Joe Pat Covington thanked the volunteers on behalf of the physical court and highlighted Roxanna Del Campo as the local volunteer manager. The court invited the award recipients forward for certificates and photos.
