Daggett County MBA approves $76,598 roofing change order for Dutch John water treatment plant

The Daggett County Municipal Building Authority on March 31 approved Change Order 5 for the Dutch John Water Treatment Plant to repair and replace the plant roof, authorizing $76,598.50 in work to be paid from the Division of Drinking Water’s portion of project funds.

A staff member told the authority the contractor offered two membrane options and recommended option 2, an EPDM membrane, because it is thicker and more pliable in cold conditions. "Option number 2 is the EPDM membrane instead of the TPO membrane. It's a little bit more pliable. It's better for this climate," the staff member said.

The staff member said the change order also covers soffit and fascia repairs and other finishes that help finish the remodeled building. He told the board that after the change order the project’s contingency would be tight: an estimated $3,447.42 would remain in contingency, with $195,334.46 remaining in Division of Drinking Water funds for the project overall.

A committee member moved to approve the change order and the chair seconded the motion. The authority voted aye on the motion.

Next steps include contracting for the selected roofing work and coordinating with the drinking-water division inspector and the contractor on scheduling. The board noted that additional small change orders may follow as the final phase of the project is completed.
