The chair called the meeting to order at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 21 but, citing a lack of quorum, asked for a motion to adjourn. "As there is not a quorum to conduct business, may we have a motion to adjourn this meeting?" the chair said.
A participant moved to adjourn and a second followed. The motion was approved by voice/acclamation; several attendees verbally recorded "aye" responses for the record. The chair then thanked staff and committee members for their work on the charter and formally closed the session. "We are grateful that we have made it through 12 months to prepare what we regard to be a very well prepared and well done charter," the chair said before adding, "This meeting is adjourned."
Why it matters: The lack of a quorum meant no substantive business could be taken at the scheduled meeting, postponing any agenda items that required a formal vote. The chair noted unfinished business will be rescheduled; staff and committee members named during the closing remarks were recognized for year-long work supporting the charter preparation.
What happened: The clerk ran roll call and recorded attendees and absentees. Present were multiple members and representatives (including a self-identified "Robert France representing District Number 8" and a notation that Wilhelmi was representing Catherine Rice of District 3). Absent were Bacchus, Lewis, Palmer and Robinson. After the motion and voice vote, the chair recorded individual affirmative responses for the record and then adjourned the meeting.
Next steps: No items were decided at this session. The chair said business is unfinished and will be brought forward at a future meeting once a quorum is present. The meeting was formally adjourned.
