APC staff gave the board a quarterly project progress and federal‑funds update on March 12, detailing local letting and obligation activity and noting a handful of schedule impacts.
Tim highlighted county and municipal project progress: Tippecanoe County’s North 9th Street project was on INDOT’s March letting; APC received an acceptance letter for phase 1 of Morehouse Road but phase 2 construction has been paused because of winter weather; and construction for Bridge 527 is expected to begin in mid‑March. For Lafayette, Tim said parts of the South 9th Street project were split into phases and some portions came in over the engineer’s initial estimate; purchase orders for the Sagamore Parkway Trail project in West Lafayette have been closed out.
Doug reviewed the 2026 federal funds status, saying that funds for part of the Soldiers Home Road project were officially obligated after finalizing a right‑of‑way purchase agreement and that most funds appear on track to be obligated for 2026. He noted staff submitted a request on Jan. 28 to move funds for the Northern Quarter study but had not yet received confirmation from NDOT.
On bid results, Doug said the engineer’s estimate for a South 9th Street phase was about $12,500,000 while the low bid came in at roughly $13.5 million (three bids were submitted). North 9th Street received five bids; Doug cited an engineer’s estimate of about $10,870,000 and a low bid around $9,069,000, which is under the estimate. Most other projects received favorable bids, but a signing/installation project had bids above the engineer’s estimate.
Why it matters: Bid results and obligation status influence whether projects proceed on schedule, whether additional local funding is needed and when construction impacts will occur for travelers and residents.
What comes next: Staff will follow up on the Northern Quarter funding request and update the board as NDOT/INDOT reports and contract awards are finalized.
