Newfields School Board approves 2026–27 academic calendar

The Newfields School Board approved the 2026–27 academic calendar at its meeting after trustees discussed moving a professional-development day from October to April so that student-led conferences could be held in full‑day format rather than multiple half days.

Superintendent (S6) explained Susie recommended the April date to better fit the building’s schedule and student conference timing; board members asked clarifying questions about how the SAU and different schools might schedule professional development and how parents with children in other SAU schools could be affected. Chair S1 moved to approve the calendar and the board approved the motion by voice vote.

The calendar change will affect the timing of professional development and student‑led conferences; staff said they will notify families of specific conference dates and any building-level schedules once finalized.
