The Upshur County Commission voted on March 19 to approve submission of a West Virginia Community Corrections Grant Program application seeking $620,566 to cover personnel, travel and office expenses. County Administrator Tabatha R. Perry explained the funding request and the required 20% local match of $274,164, which the Community Corrections Program would provide pending approval by the 18th Judicial Circuit Community Corrections Board.
The Commission approved the application on a motion (Doug Bush seconded by Sam Nolte) and authorized the Commission President to sign. Tabatha Perry told commissioners that legal and administrative follow-up would be required if the grant is awarded.
Why it matters: If awarded, the grant would provide state funding for personnel and program support in Upshur County’s community corrections efforts. The application requires a local match and board approval by the judicial circuit, which are preconditions to receiving the funds.
Next steps: The application will be submitted as authorized; award, match funding confirmation and program implementation depend on approval by the 18th Judicial Circuit Community Corrections Board and state grant administrators.
