Scott Golden, director of Allegany County Emergency Management, told the committee he expected the report to stand but highlighted recent EOC 101 training attendance and the offices response to flash flooding storms. "We had a pretty good attendance for that training," Golden said, and thanked first responders for a "team effort" in last weeks storm response. He also noted a March 12 house fire in Belmont and a mutual‑aid dispatch to northern Pennsylvania that was recalled before arrival.
Golden said the office developed a training plan with New York State DHS to assess vulnerabilities and prioritize improvements. The board thanked responders and staff for the effort.
Probation staff and the Stop DUI program presented a mock crash scheduled for Friday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Jessica McKnight said this years demonstration will be a two‑vehicle scenario involving a car and a motorcycle and include simulators (save‑a‑life tour, rollover simulator) plus fire and EMS recruitment activities; participating agencies include Friendship Fire, Cuba/Wellsville ambulance and MTS. "I would encourage and invite all of you to please join us on Friday, May 1," McKnight said.
The sheriff also updated the board that an animal abuse registry has been prepared and is awaiting magistrate participation; he said the acting district attorney has agreed to include registry dispositions with the offices recommendations.
Next steps: Emergency Management will continue training and vulnerability assessments; the Stop DUI organizers will run the May 1 mock crash as scheduled and coordinate with schools and EMS partners.
